MALAPPURAM: A CPM leader who was on the run in the case of sexually abusing a grama panchayat member has been arrested. He has been identified as Pramith (32) of Thanallor Thayyilparambu. The incident happened in July.

The complaint against Pramith is that he sexually abused the panchayat member threatening her showing some private pictures after bringing her to a hotel room in Kottakkal. She lodged the complaint on September 12. He was on the run after the police registered a case.

There were allegations that the police were helping him to hide. The court rejected the accused’ anticipatory bail plea on October 28.
