THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been raised that customs officials at Thiruvananthapuram airport strip-searched PV Abdul Wahab MP's son. The Customs action was against Javed who arrived at Thiruvananthapuram airport from Sharjah by Air Arabia at 9 pm on Tuesday night to attend his friend's wedding.

Javed informed that the officials did not believe him and continued the procedure despite being told that he was the MP's son. After raising the question as to why he had come to Thiruvananthapuram, he was detained at the airport for two hours. Later, he was taken to a private hospital without the permission of the magistrate and X-ray examination was done. Finally, he was released after he was found not guilty. The MP has filed a complaint with the Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the Customs commissioner demanding action against the officials involved in the incident. The commissioner has sought an explanation from the officers who were on duty on the day of the incident.
