NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday will pronounce its orders on the pleas challenging the 103rd Constitution Amendment, which provides for a 10 percent quota for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The verdict will be delivered around 10.30 am.

A constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Justice S Ravindra Bhat, Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice JB Pardiwala, has reserved the order in September after all the parties concluded their arguments.

The court began hearing the matter on September 13 and the hearing was held for seven days.

The petitioners had argued that providing reservation on the basis of economic criteria, excluding SC, ST and OBC Non-Creamy Layer, breaches the equality code.

The Centre has earlier told the Supreme Court that EWS reservation does not violate the basic structure.
