THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the controversy of the mayor giving a letter to the district secretary of the CPM to appoint 295 temporary employees in the corporation exists, indications are that the letter was printed in the corporation itself. However, it was found that the signature on the letter is not that of the mayor. Mayor's signature starts with the initial 'S', but the one on the letter circulating is different.
The letter leaked through the person in the governing body who prepared and printed the letter from the corporation. The letter was leaked when a member of the governing body sent it to the secretary of the local committee through WhatsApp after making it in the corporation’s computer and printing it from there.
Practice for years to inform district secretary
It is a practice for the mayor to inform the district secretary about the vacant temporary appointments in the corporation. However, it need not be formally communicated through letter. This has been the practice since time immemorial. To some extent, the party and the union are involved in the temporary appointment in the corporation. The union was dissatisfied with the transparent appointments made during this administration. After receiving a complaint to the district unit, it was directed that temporary appointments should be notified to the party as well. Accordingly, the mayor explains things to the secretary.
Police investigation will fail
The first step is to prove that the letter is fake. Mayor Arya Rajendran herself had clarified to the media that a letter without her signature was being circulated without her knowledge. In that situation, the mayor filed a complaint with the police to find the source of the letter. However, the fact that the police investigation will reach the member of the governing body will create another trouble. If an investigation is not demanded, the mayor herself will be in a difficult situation. It is also indicated that the move of the party is to save the mayor and prevent things from getting worse.
