THRISSUR: Police have arrested a tuition teacher for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy after giving him alcohol. The incident took place in Thrissur. The incident came to light during counselling conducted after the child expressed mental disturbances. The teacher, who is currently in police custody, has admitted to the crime.

After noticing a change in the behaviour of the child, his school teachers had inquired about the matter. However, the child did not reveal anything. Following this, they subjected the child to counselling. During the counselling, he revealed that his tuition teacher sexually abused him after giving him alcohol. Following this, the counsellor informed the matter to teachers. The teachers subsequently informed the matter to the child welfare committee and the Mannuthy police.

The police then took the teacher into custody after subjecting the 16-year-old boy to a medical examination. They also recorded his confidential statement. The teacher, who got separated from her husband, started tuition classes during the Covid period. She had also worked as a trainer in a fitness centre before. Police arrested the teacher under the POCSO Act.
