PALAKKAD: The Magisterial report in Attapadi Madhu murder case has been released. Although Madhu, who was beaten up by a mob, died in police custody, the report states that it was not a custodial death. The report also states that there is no evidence that Madhu was beaten up while in custody.
On the day of the incident, Madhu was taken into a police jeep in a weak condition. According to the report submitted in the court, three police officers took Madhu to the hospital in Agali. The reports were prepared by Ramesh, who was the first class judicial magistrate of Mannarkkad, and Jeromic George, who was the sub-collector of Ottapalam. The court will record their statement. The prosecution had pointed out that the report of the investigation conducted four years ago was not included in the case file. Yesterday, the prosecution argued that it should be included in the file. Following this, the report was submitted in the court.
Meanwhile, Mannarkkad SC/ST trial court granted bail to 11 accused who were on remand in the case. The bail was granted on the condition that they should not visit or threaten Madhu's mother and sisters. The bail conditions also stated that the accused have to appear in the court every day for hearing. The bail of 12 accused in the case was cancelled on August 20 when the trial court realized that they had tried to influence the witnesses.
