KOZHIKODE: A group of Muslim women on Monday staged a protest in Kozhikode in solidarity with the anti-hijab movement in Iran. The protest was led by the Kozhikode Islamic Independent Thinkers' Organization. They staged the protest by burning hijabs.
Six Muslim women of the organization staged the protest near Kozhikode town hall. This is also the first incident of hijab burning in India. The protesters raised placards and chanted slogans in solidarity with the women protesting against the imposition of hijab.
More than 300 people have been killed so far in the anti-hijab protest in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amina, who was arrested by Iran's morality police.
