THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All the VCs of the universities in Kerala gave explanations for the show-cause notice issued by the Governor. The deadline for the VCs to come up with an explanation ended today. Ten Vice Chancellors responded to the Governor's show cause notice. The governor is planning to take further steps after conducting the hearing of the VCs. The VCs explained that they are qualified as per the UGC guidelines.

Kannur VC Gopinath Ravindran gave an explanation through his lawyer this afternoon. In his explanation, Gopinath Ravindran said that there was no violation of the law regarding his appointment.

The Governor had demanded the resignation of the Vice Chancellors of Kerala University, MG, CUSAT, Kerala Fisheries University, Kannur, Technical University, Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Calicut University and Malayalam University. The Supreme Court had earlier quashed the appointment of the VC of the Technical University on the ground that the appointment was not in accordance with the rules.
