KANNUR: A six-year-old boy who was kicked for leaning on a car in Thalassery has left the hospital. The boy and mother were shifted to Women’s shelter home. The boy, who was being treated at the general hospital for spinal injury, was discharged and transferred to the shelter home after his condition improved. Meanwhile, Shihad, the accused who attacked the boy, has been sent to the crime branch for one day by Thalassery court. The report came out that the police failed to take proper action in the incident.

An inquiry report has been submitted to DGP by Kannur Rural SP stating that there was a lapse, from the part of the police including the Thalassery SHO. The accused parked his car in the no parking area on a busy road in Thalassery. When the boy leaned on his car, Shihad got angry and kicked him. There was a lot of criticism that the police did not arrest the accused even after ten hours of the incident that took place on Thursday night. Some of the witnesses of the incident rushed the boy to the Thalassery Taluk Hospital. A lawyer also reported the incident to Thalassery police. Then the police took Shihad's car into custody at night. He was called by the police to the station at night but was arrested later when the issue became controversial.

The report points out that the accused was returned from the station without taking any action by the SHO. The name of four officers of the station has been specifically mentioned in the report for not understanding the seriousness of the incident and for not informing the superior officers. As the report came out, action is likely to be taken against the officers without delay.
