KOCHI: The Motor Vehicles Department on Monday suspended the license of KSRTC driver NM Rasheed for 15 days in the incident of decorating a KSRTC bus with coconut leaves, banana plants and other leafy embellishments. Joint RTO Shoi Varghese informed Rasheed about the action when he appeared for duty yesterday morning. Joint RTO said that the driver was found guilty of decorating the bus by obscuring the vision and dangerously driving the vehicle. The investigation is progressing and further action will be decided later.
The incident took place on Sunday. The bus, which was brought from the Thodupuzha depot for the marriage of Nellikuzhi native Mahin, was decorated with various kinds of plants, coconut leaves and banana trees by Mahin's friends. The decorated bus resembled the 'Thamarakshan Pilla' bus from the popular Malayalam comedy film 'Ee Parakkum Thalika'.
Minister Antony Raju told Kerala Kaumudi that the situation shouldn't be taken seriously and that the driver can't be held entirely responsible. He also said that the bus was decorated by the groom's friends. KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar said that no action will be taken against the driver.
