THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime branch will register Mayor Arya Rajendran’s statement today in the letter controversy over the appointment of temporary employees in the corporation. They will also record the statements of corporation standing committee chief and parliamentary party secretary D R Anil and CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan.

The reports that come in say the crime branch will not take a case immediately in the letter controversy. After recording mayor’s statement, a high-level meet will be convened to think about the further steps to be taken. DGP Anil Kant ordered for a crime branch probe yesterday on the mayor’s complaint.

DySP Jaleel Thottathil is investigating the case under the supervision of crime branch SP S Madhusoodanan. The CPM district secretary had also informed that there will be a party-level inquiry into the controversial letter. The CPM is of the opinion that there is a mistake on the part of the corporation secretary in circulating such a letter in the name of the mayor.
