NEW DELHI: According to the Home Ministry's annual report, 821 foreigners were deported by Foreigners Regional Registration Officers in 2021. The annual report was published yesterday.
Most of the 821 people deported from India are Nigerians- 339 Nigerians in 2021. Next to them are Bangladeshis. 246 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested and deported by the country. 105 people from Afghanistan have also been deported.
Meanwhile, 15,24,469 foreigners visited India last year. Most of the visitors came from the United States. 4,29,860 people. It was followed by 2,40,554 from Bangladesh and 1,64,143 from Britain. Most tourists come to India from countries like Canada (80,437), Nepal (52,544), Afghanistan (36,451), Australia (33,864), Germany (33,772), Portugal (32,064) and France (30,374).
India has granted a 45-day 'Visa on Arrival' subject to conditions for visitors from Pakistan. They are admitted to the country through the Attari immigration check post.
