THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A gang of assailants hacked a youth in Kamaleswaram in Thiruvananthapuram, gravely injuring him. The injured youth has been identified as Poonthura native Afsal. Afsal was attacked near Kamleswaram Higher Secondary School yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the scene of the incident has come out. The CCTV footage shows the gang stopping Afsal and hacking his leg. The gang fled the scene after they saw policemen approaching on a motorbike. The Fort Police has registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
The police revealed that enmity over a verbal dispute led to the attack. The main accused in the case is Ashwin, a native of Karimadom. The other day, the bike of Ashwin's brother had met with an accident near the school. Following this, a verbal argument broke out between Ashwin and Afsal's friends. Police believe that Ashwin attacked Afsal because of this. Police have nabbed two accused named Surya and Sudheesh in the incident. They said that six more, including two minors, are yet to be arrested.
