THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat meeting decided that Thiruvananthapuram mayor Arya Rajendran need not resign over the letter controversy. It was agreed in the party secretariat that no more action should be taken until the police investigation is over.
Meanwhile, Vigilance has started a preliminary investigation regarding the alleged back-door appointments in the corporation. Special Investigation Unit SP KE Baiju is leading the investigation. The investigation was ordered by Vigilance Director Manoj Abraham.
Arya Rajendran on Friday clarified that she will not resign over the letter controversy. The Mayor told the media that she will remain in office as long as she has the support of the councilors and the people. She said that she did not file the complaint for namesake and would cooperate with any investigation ordered by the court. The mayor also said that she will decide on the legal aspect of filing a defamation case against the 'suit case protest' of the Mahila Congress.
