ALAPPUZHA: Former minister G Sudhakaran came to the fore with a new stand on the issue related to women's entry in Sabarimala. He said the claim that only women above 50 can enter Sabarimala should be accepted. He said this while attending the annual celebration of the district committee of Jyothisha Tantrika Vedi. He also gave away the Jyotisha Tantrika Pratibha Puraskar. He opined that there are known and unknown things in the world, and as long as there are unknowns in the world, astrology is relevant.
Sudhakaran also spoke about his earlier controversial statement that Hindu priests should wear underwear. He said his statement that Hindu priests should wear underwear in weddings and other public ceremonies was with good intentions. Christian and Muslim priests come dressed well and even their feet are not visible. However, some teased his opinion.
In the meet held at the hall of Kidangamparambu L P School, vedi chairman astrologer K Sabu Vasudev presided. Alappuzha T Shivankutty astrologer was honoured for completing 50 years in the field of astrology. Dr Vishnu Namboothiri Mavelikkara, Dr.Srinivasan Kannur, Njarakal Sukumaran Tantri, Sasidharan astrologer, Cherthala Subramanian Pillai Vaikkam, Chavara Rajendran astrologer, Suresh Kumar Vayalar, Jayan Anand Sajith Kumar, Ramavarma and Abhilash spoke.
