KOZHIKODE: A circle inspector has been arrested in a gang rape case. The arrested has been identified as Sunu, a coastal police inspector in Kozhikode. The action is in the case registered in Thrikkakara. The Thrikakkara police is grilling the circle inspector.

The incident happened in last May. A woman in Thrikakkara has complained that she was sexually abused by a group including Sunu. The Thrikakkara police arrested him from the Kozhikode police station.

Meantime, grade ASI T G Babu of Ambalavyal station, who tried to sexually abuse a survivor in the POCSO case, is on the run. Police conducted a search at Babu's house last night but could not find him.

The district police chief said the accused will be arrested soon. A case has been registered against T G Babu under POCSO Act and SC-ST Act. The incident took place on July 26 last when the 16-year-old girl, a survivor in the POCSO case, was taken to a lodge in Ooty for collecting evidence.

Sub inspector Sobin, grade ASI T G Babu and Civil Police Officer Prajisha were in the team. The complaint is that while returning from Ooty after completing the collection of evidence, the vehicle stopped in the city and Babu caught her hand and took her pictures on his mobile phone. The girl disclosed this during counselling in the shelter home.
