NEW DELHI: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that he knew about his removal from the chancellor’s post of Kalamandalam through the media. The governor responded by mocking why the government should bother when the media is reporting everything. The government has the freedom to do anything, he said while talking to the media in Delhi.

The ordinance removing the governor from the post of chancellor of universities was sent to the Raj Bhavan yesterday, three days after it was promulgated. The Governor gave an indication the other day that he will not take a decision on the ordinance and will send it to the President. The governor said that he would welcome if the government decides to move legally. The government decided to bring an ordinance and then a bill against the governor. It was on Wednesday the cabinet met and decided on the ordinance against the governor. The cabinet will meet next Wednesday to decide whether to convene an assembly session to bring a special bill to remove the Governor from the post of chancellor. The legal advice received by the government is that if the bill can be passed while the ordinance is under the consideration of the governor, then the bill can be passed even when it is under the consideration of the president.

The government is also trying to postpone the governor's policy address to the assembly session in New Year. The government is planning to extend it after the Christmas break and extend it until the New Year after convening the session. The Governor, who is in Delhi, will return on November 20th.
