KOCHI: CPM leader and central committee member P K Sreemathi said circle inspector P R Sunu, who sexually abused a housewife, is a habitual offender. She criticised the Kerala Police with the question ‘is the fence itself eating the crops.’
A CPM central committee member came against the police at a time when the home department of the state is being criticised harshly.
The arrest of station house officer P R Sunu taken into custody from the Kozhikode Coastal Police Station in the case of gang raping a house wife after promising her to release her husband, from jail, in a job scam case, has not been registered. The investigating officials said the accused brought to Kochi was interrogated late at night but his arrest was not registered as a clear statement was not obtained. There are seven accused including a woman who abetted the sexual harassment, in the case.
A 22-year-old woman, wife of an ex-soldier and mother of two children staying in a rented house on Thrikkakara Temple Road, is the victim of sexual harassment. The Thrikkakara police registered the case on the complaint given to Kochi Deputy Commissioner of Police. Sunu is the third accused. Her housemaid Vijayalakshmi is the first accused, second accused is Rajeev from Thrikkakara, fourth is Abhilash, an employee of Thrikkakara temple and Shashi, friend of the complainant's husband, is the fifth accused. Sixth and seventh accused are identifiable people.
