NEYYATTINKARA: The Neyyantinkara additional district and sessions court has sentenced life imprisonment to 11 convicts in Anavoor Narayan Nair murder case. The accused are RSS party workers. In addition to imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on the first, second and fourth accused. The fine should be paid to Anavoor Narayanan Nair’s family.
The accused are Rajesh, Prasad, Anil, Girish Kumar, Prem Kumar, Arun Kumar, Ajayan, Baiju, Saji Kumar, Binu Kumar and Girish. Rajesh, the first accused is a native of Keezhattoor and the state general secretary of BMS Transport Employees Union.
The incident happened on November 11, 2013 at midnight. Narayanan Nair, an employee of the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, was killed when he tried to stop the accused who came to his house to attack his son Siva Prasad, an SFI activist. Narayanan Nair was severely injured while trying to stop the attackers from entering his house. He died while being taken to the Neyyattinkara General Hospital and later to the Medical College. The murder was politically motivated. The deceased was a close relative of CPM state committee member Anavoor Nagappan. The statement of Anavoor’s elder brother and the first witness Adv. Velayudhan Nair became crucial to the case.
