THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Left Front is going to conduct a protest rally in front of Raj Bhavan under the label of higher education protection committee against Governor Arif Muhammad Khan's actions to destroy the democratic nature of universities. But the High Court verdict quashing the appointment of KUFOS VC became a setback to the government and the Front.

The High court verdict will give energy to the Governor’s actions. However, the opposition is using the court’s reference that the Governor accepted the recommendation of the search committee without UGC representative as a weapon against the Governor and the government.

The High Court verdict against the KUFOS VC comes when the VCs are trying to defend the Governor's move with the support of the government. When the government is trying to take away the Chancellor post of the Governor alleging that it is a move for the Sangh Parivar, the High Court verdict has become a weapon to the Governor.

The Left Front alleges that the Governor's action is part of the central government's moves against state governments not ruled by BJP. They try to give a broader political dimension to the protest by ensuring participation of a DMK representative. The government claims that qualified VCs have been appointed in the universities. The High Court has not doubted the qualification of KUFOS VC. It was found that the composition of the search committee was wrong and the three-member panel name was not submitted as a violation of the UGC rules.
