NEW DELHI: The Delhi police had arrested the youth identified as Aftab Poonawala for killing his live-in partner and then chopping her body into 35 pieces. He then stored the pieces in a fridge and then dumped it in various places of the forest in Delhi in 18 days. The 28-year-old told police that he committed the crime after she forced him to marry her. He brutally murdered Shraddha Walkar (26), a native of Palghar in Mumbai and a call center employee of a multinational company.

He searched google to dispose the body. His favorite TV show Dexter helped him in that. He bought a big fridge and with the help of a meat cleaver chopped her body into smaller parts and stacked them in it. He used bottles of perfumes and incense sticks to the keep the smell away.

He will take some parts from the fridge at 2 am, stuff them into a bag and leave the house. He will go to a new area every day to dump the parts. He will chop the parts into smaller pieces so as not to alert ragpickers. The bag will be emptied in one place and will throw the bag in another location.

The police took the youth to Mehrauli forest area to recover her body parts. Being a trained chef, Aftab was adept at using the knife. The knife used to murder her has not been recovered.

The matter came to light when her father along with the police from Palghar came to Mehrauli police station over a missing complaint.

Aftab allegedly used her Instagram account to keep in touch with her friends. Her friends grew suspicious when her phone remained switched off for more than two months.
