THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police may register a case in the letter controversy in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation. The final decision will be made on the basis of the report of the Crime Branch, which conducted the preliminary investigation. The crime branch team has handed over a report to the chief to register a case of forgery in the letter controversy. The crime branch chief, who is on leave, will return on Friday. The report will be forwarded to DGP after that. The investigation may be handed over to the crime branch itself.
The crime branch is yet to find the original letter, purportedly written by the mayor. The letter may have been destroyed, as is believed. However, the mayor said that the letter was neither prepared by her nor her office. Therefore, the crime branch believes that the letter was a forged document. So the cops can file a forgery case. The probe won't move forward, though, unless the original letter and the people who circulated it are found. The High Court has also sought information regarding the investigation of the case. It will consider the case on November 25. A vigilance investigation is also underway. The vigilance will soon submit its report. Vigilance can file a case only if it finds that corruption has taken place.
Meanwhile, a report came out stating that DR Anil's brother was also been illegally appointed in the medical college. It was DR Anil who prepared a letter seeking Kudumbashree workers for temporary appointments in SAT hospital. Anil is the LDF parliamentary party leader and chairman of the Standing Committee in the Corporation.
Anil's brother DR Ramraj was appointed as a lift operator under the guise of appointment through Kudumbashree. Ramraj was initially fired from the hospital as a result of repeated complaints. Ramraj is said to have later been reinstated as a lift operator as a result of DR Anil's intervention.
