NEW DELHI: Former VC Dr MS Rajasree has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against the verdict setting aside the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of the Technical University. The petition mainly sought that the judgment cancelling his appointment should not be given retrospective effect. Rajasree claims that if the action of the selection committee was wrong, she, who is innocent, will become a victim.
"If there is a mistake in the formation of the selection committee and in recommending only one person, I'm not responsible for it. The decision to cancel the appointment humiliated me in front of the community, colleagues and students. No complaint was raised against me during the tenure as VC", Rajasree said in the review petition. Advocate PV Dinesh filed the petition in the Supreme Court.
A bench comprising Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar ruled that Rajasree's appointment was 'void ab initio'. This may require a refund of salary and other benefits received so far.
Meanwhile, the state government is also planning to file a review petition against the verdict canceling the appointment of the Technical University VC. The petition is filed taking into account the legal advice of former Attorney General KK Venugopal.
