THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government and Adani Group has again started the consensus moves in Vizhinjam protest. The team led by Latin Archdiocese Vicar General and Convenor of the protest committee, Eugene Pereira, held an informal meeting with Chief Secretary VP Joy on Monday. The consensus effort led by the Chief Secretary came after the unofficial discussions with the ministers also failed. The chief secretary informed the protesters that the demand to stop the construction of the port cannot be accepted and there are legal obstacles to it. It was also assured that decisions will be taken on the remaining six demands considering their situation as well. The meeting ended with an agreement for further discussions.

Meanwhile, a discussion was held with the representatives of the youth organization of the Latin Archdiocese under the leadership of the Adani Group. The meeting of the protest committee assessed that a favorable decision is expected in the further discussions. When there was no result despite continuous discussions, the government was of the stance that there was no need for discussion with the protest committee. But since the weather is favorable for construction, the Adani Group has requested the government to begin the construction of the port as soon as possible.
