THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth, who was undergoing treatment after being hacked in Kamaleswaram following an argument, died on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Afsal, a native of Poonthura. Eight accused in the incident are in remand. Three of them are school students.

Afsal was attacked by a group near Kamleswaram Higher Secondary School on November 9 evening. The footage of the gang stopping Afsal and attacking him had surfaced. The police said that Karimadom native Ashwin is the main accused. According to the police, the enmity over a verbal dispute led to the attack. Ashwin was involved in a verbal argument with Afsal's friends after the bike of Ashwin's brother met with an accident near the school.
