WAYANAD: A five-year-old boy, who was undergoing treatment after being hacked by his neighbor in Wayanad, has died. The deceased is Adidev, son of Jayaprakash, of Parakkal in Kuzhimukku in Pallikkavala. Anila, the child's mother, was also seriously injured in the attack. The accused is Jithesh (45) of Kizhakkeparambil in Pallikkavala, a neighbour, friend and business partner of Jayaprakash.

The attack took place around 9 am on Thursday. Anila was taking her son Adidev to Anganwadi when Jithesh attacked her on the road. Anila was also hacked on her shoulder and back. Adidev was hacked on his left ear. Both were taken to the hospital by locals. He was admitted to Wims Medical College Hospital, but Adidev was shifted to Kozhikode Medical College due to his serious condition.

The police had arrested Jithesh on the same day. The police say that personal enmity resulted in the murder. It is reported that there were some business transactions between Jayaprakash and the accused which led to the problems.
