THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The SilverLine project has not been abandoned, CPM state secretary MV Govindan said on Saturday. He said that the SilverLine, announced by the second LDF government as the major development project of Kerala, will not be abandoned under any circumstances and will be implemented as soon as it gets approval from the Centre. At the same time, CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran also responded to the media today that the Left Front has not backed down from implementing the SilverLine project. Kanam Rajendran said this while attending the party's district committee meeting in Alappuzha.

Last month, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had held a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai amid uncertainty over getting central approval for the SilverLine project. It was rumoured that the SilverLine project would be the main topic of discussion during the meeting on development issues. Although an understanding was reached on the Malappuram-Mysore National Highway, the SilverLine was not discussed.
