DOHA: The Football World Cup kicked off with host country Qatar facing against Ecuador. Ecuador has scored two goals against Qatar. Valencia scored the two goals for Ecuador. His first goal came after a penalty shoot at the sixteenth minute.

He scored the second goal during the thirty first minute with a header. Though Valencia had scored another goal at the second minute of the match, it was deemed offside by the referee. Valencia is the fifth player to score two goals in the opening match since 2000.

Qatar entered the match in a defensive position with 5-3-2 format. Ecuador chose the 4-4-2 format. The match referee is Daniele Orsato of Italy.

While Ecuador stands at the 44th position in FIFA ranking, Qatar is at 50. It is for the first time that Qatar is playing in the World Cup.
