THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP is preparing to win three seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala by playing the 'Modi mantra' as a trump card. The state leadership is gearing up to use the Modi brand as a weapon as it failed to make any major inroads by using the Sabarimala issue, the broad front involving backward classes and minority love.
The BJP has high hopes in three constituencies in Kerala- Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Pathanamthitta. BJP has a master plan to secure these seats in which it has close to three lakh votes. Apart from these, the party will also be focusing on Palakkad, Kasaragod and Attingal where it has more than two lakh votes.
At the national level, BJP's agenda is 'Mission 450'. Currently, it has 303 seats in the Parliament. Along with that, there are 144 constituencies in which the party came second or expected to win last time. With more than 24 months left for the Lok Sabha elections, the party has started preparations in all these constituencies.
BJP has different plans in each state. Admiration towards Prime Minister Modi is the main topic in Kerala. According to the survey report, 35 percent of the voters admire Modi. There are nearly 1.25 crore voters in Kerala who are beneficiaries of any one of the Centre's 200 public welfare schemes. BJP will lead the campaign by projecting Modi as one who stands for development, national pride, a ruler who does what he says, and a leader who has raised the reputation of India in the world. Every month, a Union Minister will lead the promotion of the Modi brand in each district of the state.
22,000 booth committees
The first phase of preparation, which started in April this year, will be completed by March next year. By then the number of booth committees will increase from 18,000 to 22,000. Booth formation, fund collection and formation of Shakti Kendras will be done. BJP workers will deliver Modi's message to every home. They will meet beneficiaries of central schemes and felicitate them.
Coordination: V Muraleedharan
Union Minister V Muraleedharan is coordinating 'Brand Modi'. A team of Union Ministers Shobha Karandlaje, Bhagwanth Khuba and Suresh Gopi will help him.
