CHENNAI: Former union minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram criticized the governors on issues including the governor-government spat in the state over chancellor and university issues. In an article written in a national media, Chidambaram recalled that the country's constitution was borrowed from Britain's Westminster model and that there were restrictions on the government being controlled by the governor.

Chidambaram indirectly criticized Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and state Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in his article. Chidambaram mentions in his article the opinion of the Governor that if the CM was not aware that someone from his office was directing the vice chancellor to appoint a relative, it shows how incompetent he is. The governor’s statement criticising the chief minister is also in the article. The article said this shows that the governor is not fit for the post. Chidambaram criticised pointing various issues and said not only in Kerala but also in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, the governors are crossing their limits and they want to become chief ministers.
