bill

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A bill to remove the governor from the post of chancellor from all fourteen universities will be introduced in the assembly today. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had the other day given permission to introduce the bill. The government's explanation is that the new changes are to avoid the governor having constitutional status, from carrying more charges.

The government is trying to pass the bill on December 13. Two bills in English and Malayalam are introduced. The Governor gave his approval to the bill translated in English. English translation requires the permission of the Governor. All eight university regulations are in English.

The opposition is planning to oppose the bill strongly. The Congress and the Muslim League have different opinions in the spat between the governor and the government.
Meantime, the governor had not signed the ordinance to remove the governor from the post of chancellor. So, the governor is not possible to sign the bill.
