THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister, K Rajan, said in the legislative assembly that the government or the K-Rail has no claim to the property marked for the Silver Line Project. Therefore, the owners of that land is free to do any transactions. There would not be any difficulty to handover the land, to pawn it, or to pay land tax. There will be restrictions for the transactions only when the notification is released. The rest are all rumors.
The notification was released under the acquisition of land act section 4 (1) only to conduct social impact study. The project will go ahead only after this study is accepted by the expert group and the government. That is mentioned in the act. To begin the acquisition of the land, the approval by the Railway Board and the Central Government is needed.
The Minister said that the government has already notified the District Collectors, Registration IG, and Cooperative Registrar that there must be no difficulty for the transaction of the said land.
When Eldhose Kunnappilly asked why survey stones were laid when there was no approval from the central government, the Minister replied that the social impact study was done after the central government gave permission in principle.
