Action is likely to be taken on the complaint filed by the political parties citing the nationalism of Mexico. If the complaint gets approved, it is indicated that Messi will face a ban from entering Mexico.

Argentina and Mexico were in Group C in the Qatar World Cup. Argentina defeated Mexico in the second match of the group. A controversy had erupted after it was alleged that Messi had kicked the Mexican jersey on the floor while celebrating Argentina's victory against Mexico.

The allegation was raised after the video from the Argentine dressing room came out on the day of the match. The video shows the Mexican jersey lying on the floor and Messi unintentionally kicking it away. After this incident, Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez had come out with a threat to Messi.
