Though, the team entered the quarter finals, the star footballer could only score one goal for his country. In addition, he was not chosen as the playing eleven in the pre-quarter match with Switzerland, which led to a big controversy.

Portugal media had reported that Cristiano Ronaldo had threatened to quit the World Cup for not including in the first-half of the match. However, the Portugal Football Federation rejected this news.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo received support from German legendary footballer, Mesut Ozil. He said in a social media post that Ronaldo was one of the greatest football players in history. He said that Cristiano Ronaldo must be respected for his talents.

He added that many media houses were trying to get attention using Ronaldo’s name. The accusation that 38-year-old Ronaldo is not scoring goals is not an issue for criticism.

Mesut Ozil asked who from the new generation is able to break the records set by Ronaldo in the past twenty years.
