THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State President K Surendran said that the Muslim League is very much a communal party. The BJP state president was responding to CPM state secretary MV Govindan's statement that the Muslim League is a democratic party. Talking to the media, Surendran claimed that the CPM's strategy to bring the Muslim League to the LDF is very much active and that MV Govindan's comments have given it more momentum.
"Everyone knows that the League is a party that takes a sectarian stand. CPM's earlier stance was that the League was a communal party. EMS, Nayanar and VS said that the aim was to come up with an administration without including the League. However, now the CPM is making a move for communal polarization. This is a move to destroy the religious harmony of the country for getting more votes," Surendran said.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretary MV Govindan came out with an explanation for praising the league. MV Govindan added that there is a need for unity against communalism and not a political alliance.
