PALAKKAD: A pregnant woman who suffered labour pain was carried to the hospital in a cloth cradle as the ambulance couldn’t reach due to bad roads in Attappady. The woman identified as Sumathi Murukan was carried to the hospital for 3.5 kilometers by her relatives. The incident happened at Kadukamanna.
The woman went into labour last midnight. Though her relatives contacted an ambulance, the vehicle could not reach due to bad roads. Private vehicles were also not available as elephants visit the area at night.
The ambulance could reach only till Anavayi due to the condition of the road. Her relatives carried her for 3.5 kilometres from Kadukamanna Ooru to Anavai. She delivered after reaching the hospital. The news was reported by a private channel.
