ALAPPUZHA: Appu achieves a milestone in his dream at the Mister Alleppey competition. Appu doesn’t have two legs and one hand, but his hard work and will power made him the star on the stage. He received the bronze medal at the competition.
Kerala Kaumudi had reported a decade ago the story of Appu’s father, Pushkaran, carrying him and his mother holding his artificial legs and walking over the bridge in Ottathengu. Yesterday, Appu tasted success after fighting heavy odds in his life.
He took the decision to go to the gym after getting his bachelor’s degree from Ambalapuzha Government College. He was told to leave from one gym by saying that he cannot do anything. Yet Appu did not lose hope and kept trying.
Seeing the determination in Appu’s eyes, gym trainer Vishnu, of Swami Gym in Ambalapuzha took the task of turning Appu’s dream into reality.
Appu, a native of Ambalapuzha had disability since his birth. He was born without a right hand and lips. He had issues with his voice too. After two years, his legs had to be cut off because it became infected. Later lips were attached through plastic surgery. With another operation his voice issues changed. While everyone thought that Appu would be bedridden at that time, he chose to rise in life.
