KANNUR: The Youth Congress of Kannur has come out in support of Shashi Tharoor and at the same time criticized the state leadership of Congress. A resolution was passed by the Youth Congress at its district leadership camp, which says that unnecessary ban is suicidal and egoistic. It added that with the people’s support would not hamper with a ban.
The resolution continued saying that the leaders must be ready to see the readings on the wall. People who are useful in the fight against the common enemy is being sidelined. The Kannur leadership that welcomed Tharoor must be congratulated.
The resolution demanded that the ‘Uncle Syndrome’ of the leaders must change.
The state leadership became upset with Shashi Tharoor after he began a tour of Northern Kerala after contesting the Presidential election in the Congress. Tharoor had visited prominent personalities from social, cultural, and religious fields and attended many public functions. His tour was criticized by many Congress leaders, including the Opposition Leader.
The leaders criticized that Tharoor’s programs were organized without prior permission and that Tharoor was attending these programs without giving any prior notice.
After the leaders began criticizing Tharoor’s tour, the Youth Congress of Kozhikode backed off from organizing a function, where Shashi Tharoor was to speak. After one side supported Tharoor, the Congress had to reply for the infighting in the party.
The issues were settled temporarily only after Muslim League came to the fore.
