CHARUMMOODU: A woman and her lover were arrested in the case of injuring her father-in-law with an iron rod after he questioned her for not taking proper care of her child. The Nooranad police arrested Sreelekshmi and her lover Bipin of Nooranad for attempt to murder Raju. Sreelekshmi is wife of Raju’s son.

The incident happened on the road near their house on the night of November 29. A youth who came on a bike wearing a helmet beat Raju with an iron rod all over his body. Raju could not identify the youth. He later sought treatment at Mavelikkara taluk hospital. There were 15 stitches on his head. A case for attempt to murder was registered based on the complaint lodged at the Nooranad police. Though an investigation focusing on CCTV visuals was conducted, a person was seen going in a bike, but was not clear. Based on the information that a fight broke out between Raju and Sreelekshmi on the day he was attacked, her role was suspected. The incident unfolded in the subsequent interrogation.

Bipin decided to attack Raju as per Sreelakshmi’s words. When Raju returned from Padanilam Junction in his bike, Bipin followed him and when he reached near the house, attacked him.

The police arrested the two after understanding the presence of Bipin in the attack. The two produced in Mavelikkara Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court have been remanded.
