THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The hearing of eight vice-chancellors who were served show-cause notices will be held today. Half an hour will be allotted to each VC in the hearing held at Raj Bhavan from 11 am.

The first would be former Kerala VC Dr V P Mahadevan Pillai. The order of hearing is from Thiruvananthapuram to the north. The Governor accepted the request of Sanskrit University VC M V Narayanan for an online hearing as there is a programme in CUSAT. He will have a virtual hearing in the afternoon. The hearing of MG University Vice-Chancellor, who is currently abroad, will be held another day.

Meantime, Kannur VC Dr Gopinath Ravindran has informed the Governor via e-mail that he will not attend the hearing. He also demanded his re-appointment documents. He sought the notification of the formation of the search committee and its proceedings. Will appear only after studying this. The e-mail has requested to give an opportunity after January 3.

Ravindran said that he was appointed as Kannur VC when former Supreme Court Chief Justice P Sadasivam was serving as Governor. Will Sadasivam, a lawyer, commit a mistake. Ravindran pointed that his appointment was after following all procedures. Raj Bhavan replied to the VC that the documents of re-appointment could not be provided.
