THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the assembly that the center has to give nod for the SilverLine project. He clarified that the central government has not informed that the DPR prepared for the project is incomplete and that the money spent for the preliminary work is legal.

Prior steps were taken hoping to get center’s nod for the project very soon. A study is presently going on. There is a political move against the project and also has the center’s ruling party. The process was expedited when central approval was obtained in principle. The orders related to land acquisition will not be cancelled. No one's land has been acquired and the orders related to land acquisition and cases against protesters will not be withdrawn, said the chief minister.

The government had last month took a U-turn from the SilverLine project, described as Kerala's proud project. The revenue department issued an order completely freezing the activities related to the projects and recalled all the officials assigned to acquire the land. The revenue department's order stated that after receiving the final approval from the Central Railway Board, further steps will be taken. The project was not approved by the center and strong protests impelled the government to take a U-turn.
