KOZHIKODE: Health Minister Veena George has intervened in the issue of Harsheena based on Kerala Kaumudi report. Harsheena underwent surgery to take out the forceps that got trapped in her stomach during a cesarean operation five years prior, she was back in hospital again. She was admitted at the Kozhikode Medical College because puss has formed where the surgery was done.
The minister had called her and enquired about her health condition following Kerala Kaumudi report about her suffering. As the first investigation was not satisfactory, the Additional Chief Secretary has been entrusted with the scientific investigation and the Health Minister said that justice would be ensured to her.
After four days of treatment, Harsheena was discharged and went home yesterday. She had earlier decided to conduct a strike at the hospital until justice is served. However, Harsheena said that she is withdrawing from the strike believing the assurance of the minister. Harsheena was admitted to the hospital on the 9th of this month with puss in her stomach.
After her orderal got attention, medical college principal had appointed a three-member investigation committee. But after Harsheena complained that the investigation was one-sided, the health minister appointed another investigation team. Harsheena's statement was taken on October 21. The health department was not ready to release the report or pay compensation even after two months after the investigation team revealed that the forceps got stuck during the surgery in the medical college. Following this, the minister appointed the Additional Chief Secretary to inspect the inquiry report and conduct another investigation.
