ALAPPUZHA: One room is filled with more than 3000 mementos. The next room is filled with caricatures, and the third room is a library. The communist leader G Sudhakaran has arranged a gallery and is waiting for guests to visit there.

He received this much mementos during the time he was an MLA and a Minister. There are 20 caricatures with different emotions of G Sudhakaran that were drawn by cartoonists and painters. Out of the 12,000 books he had bought and received as donations, 2,500 books are in the library.

The communist leader moved into the present house at Paravur in Punnapra in 2017, when his earlier house at Kalarcode was acquired by the government for highway development. His new house had an old structure standing in front of it with two rooms. The idea to convert this old structure into a gallery was given by his wife Dr. Jubilee Navaprabha. For that, a new room was attached to it.

In his earlier home, his collection of 12,000 books were kept in a big room. 8000 books have been donated to the library made in memory of his brother G Bhuvenshwar, and 1100 books are at the Paravur Public Library.

The mementos were tied up in sacks. G Sudhakaran calculates that the mementos will worth Rs.20 lakhs. The collection also includes mementos he received from foreign countries. He says that each memento takes him down memory lane.
