THRISSUR: The security lapse in the incident of a 15-year-old boy driving an ambulance of Thrissur district hospital is being examined. The boy was admitted there for fever. The incident will be examined by a team led by the hospital authorities. The incident happened on Monday.

The boy drove the ambulance parked in the hospital for eight kilometres in the city. The vehicle stopped suddenly at Ollur Anakkallu. Noticing the driver as a minor, the people got suspicious and informed the police. The boy drove the ambulance at the time of India Kisan Sabha’s rally was being staged. The ambulance was found through GPS facility. The hospital authorities have so far not filed a complaint. Further steps will be taken after examining the security lapse. The Thrissur Police registered a case.

The boy is the son of an employee at the hospital. He was moving around easily as he was known to all. Seeing the key in the ambulance, he got in and drove it into the city.
