DOHA: Defending champions France will take on dark horses Morocco in the second semifinal of the FIFA World Cup on Wednesday.
The French team is in great form. After defeating Australia and Denmark in the group stage, France lost to Tunisia but reached the pre-quarters as the leaders in the points table. They then defeated Poland in the pre-quarter and strong England in the quarter-final.
After managing a goalless draw with Croatia in the first match, Morocco defeated Belgium and Canada to reach the pre-quarters as group winners. In the pre-quarter, they defeated former world champions Spain in a penalty shootout. Later, they beat Portugal 1-0 in the quarter to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
