KOCHI: The Kochi police will do patrolling on electric hovers without being stuck in traffic. The police officer will ride on a hover which has two small tires, one handle, and a platform to stand on. The Kochi police have received the same model of hovers that are used in many foreign countries and in Mumbai.
The hovers are useful to catch criminals by pursuing them with speed. This is the first time the Kerala police is using such a vehicle.
The six hovers were purchased by Cochin Smart Mission Limited (CSML)’s CSR fund. The Kochi City Police Commissioner, CH Nagaraju, will receive the hovers from MD of CSML, S Shanavas.
The hover’s speed can be increased by leaning forward by holding the handle and to reduce the speed the rider must lean back. The vehicle has digital display, LED head light, and beacon light. The hover can move at a speed of 20 km per hour. This hover is included in the section of electric scooters and can carry a weight of up to 120 kg.
The rate of one hover is Rs.1.60 lakhs. The battery charge will last up to 6-7 hours.
