THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government and the KSEB is responsible for not implementing Central Government’s Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY) project efficiently said the CAG report. The institution has fallen into a deep loss. The report suggests that the government must think about the benefits are implement the projects accordingly. The report was tabled in the assembly yesterday.
In 2015-15 the loss of KSEB was Rs.696.96 crores. The project was implemented to make stop the loss. However, the loss in 2020-21 climbed to Rs.1822.35 crores. The project was not used to reduce the expense of distribution and loan. The project’s aim to implement smart meter, and distribution of LED bulbs were also not achieved.
The Rs.1.41 crore LED bulbs which had central government grant was sold to the public for a profit and earned Rs.38.71 crores unfairly. There electricity charge dues have reached Rs.2342.36 crores.
As the Renewable Purchase Obligation related to solar, windmills, and other renewable energy sources development were not followed a loss of Rs. 495.95 crores had to be paid as fine. This resulted in the impact of the loss and also led to burdening the people with increased charges.
