THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government, which had decided to postpone the Governor's policy address in the wake of the ongoing battle between the Governor and the government, is now preparing for a rethink. Along with postponing the policy address, the government also gave instructions to prepare the speech. Additional Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan has been given the charge.
Earlier, reports had claimed that the government had decided to avoid the governor's policy address in the budget session starting in January. However, the policy address cannot be completely avoided. In the event that the legislature has decided to adjourn, there might be no policy address before the budget. However, it will be necessary later. The government's instruction came in this situation.
The first assembly session of the new year usually begins with the governor's policy address. As the cabinet has not yet informed the governor about the Assembly getting adjourned, even if the Assembly convenes later, it can be considered a continuation of the old session. However, the government cannot keep the governor aside permanently. All the government can do is avoid the policy address for the time being. The governor's policy address will be required when the Assembly reconvenes next year
