TAWANG: Following the clash between Indian soldiers and the Chinese soldiers, who attempted to cross the Line of Actual Control in the Tawang sector, the Indian Army have recovered some equipment left by PLA troops in retreat. On December 9, about 300 Chinese soldiers attempted to invade Yangtse area of Tawang which was thwarted by the Indian troops. The recovered equipment includes sleeping bags that can be used in extreme cold temperatures and in open areas.

This indicate that China's attempt was to gain access to the top of the 17,000-foot peak and take over the Indian post. As in Galvan, an attempt to penetrate the Line of Actual Control and set up an observation post in Tawang. This was reported by news agency IANS quoting a senior army officer.

It is very cold in Tawang and is heavily snowing. Before the onset of winter, Indian posts are often stocked with weapons and foodstuffs. China's objective was to monitor the movements of Indian forces by secretly setting up a post here.

During the patrolling of the Chinese crossing at Galwan, the soldiers unexpectedly saw each other and clashed. Despite the presence of around 300 Chinese soldiers, India's strong response forced them to retreat.
