ALAPPUZHA: A case has been registered against an MLA and his wife on the complaint of insulting a woman leader using casteist remarks. The case is registered against Kuttanad MLA Thomas K Thomas and his wife Shirley. The case was registered against them under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Act in Kerala following the complaint NCP Mahila district president Jisha.
Her complaint is that she was insulted at the party meet in Haripad the other day. The problems started when Jisha questioned the presence of the MLA’s wife at the party meet.
Following that, a verbal dispute broke out between the two. Though the party activists intervened and settled the issue, Jisha alleged that the MLA and his wife insulted her later using casteist remarks. Meantime, the MLA lodged a complaint with the district police chief stating that a woman tried to insult them.
